Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a video cost?

The cost of a typical 30-second promotional video can range from $1500 to $5,000 (for online distribution – YouTube, Vimeo, etc…). It mainly depends on the type of video and post-production required. For longer videos the costs can range from $2500 to $10,000 per finished minute.

What is your Day Rate?

$1000/day (10 hours) – Director

$500/day (10 hours) – Camera Operator

$50/hour – Basic Editing – Single camera, simple graphics

$125/hour – Advanced Editing – Multi-camera, animated graphics

How long will it take to finish our video?

Generally speaking, it can take as little as 48 hours from start to finish, for a simple video (with minimal editing). More complex videos will take longer to complete depending on the desired length and other variables (multi-camera editing, advanced motion graphics, cleaning up audio, adding music tracks, etc…).

I really like a song by a particular artist, can I use it in my video?

Maybe. In the past it was very expensive to license popular music for use in videos. Most of the time, a video using unlicensed copyright music would be flagged by YouTube and other video websites. However, things have changed recently and it may be possible to get a popular song licensed for about $35 to $50 (depending on the artist and song).

Are you willing to travel for our video?

Yes, as long as my travel expenses, lodging, and per diem ($65/day) are covered.

What is the process of making a video?

Pre-production: We begin with brainstorming and discussing your vision. We talk about what you want to say and how to convey it most effectively. We transform shaky concepts into strong ones to clarify your vision. The shooting script is built on these ideas. The storyboards follow, allowing you to visualize the script like a comic book. Once the storyboards and script are set, we review it one more time and make any necessary revisions. This helps you save time, money, and hassles.

Production: On production day it’s: “Lights, camera, and action!” We set up, then follow the script and storyboards to record the raw footage.

Post- Production: The rough footage will be edited, along with music and graphics. I then make sure to carefully synchronize the audio with the visuals to create a polished and professional end product. The client will review the first-cut of the video and approve it, or request any revisions deemed necessary. Up to 3 rounds of revisions are included in the initial price of the video (any further revisions will be billed at the appropriate editing rate).
